MASTER OF SCIENCE

Law - Nola

Introduction

The Law degree programme aims to provide students with a solid legal education, combining knowledge of the fundamental elements and functioning of legal systems with the ability to analyse the influence that global dynamics such as the digitalization and telematisation of societies and the multinational nature of the economy and businesses have on these systems, especially in the field of innovation.

Carreer opportunities

Following the required training period, graduates in Law will have privileged career opportunities in private practice, as solicitors or notaries, as well as positions in the judiciary and, more generally, in the Italian and European Union public administration, after passing the appropriate examinations and competitions. They will also have direct access to management and executive positions in private and public companies, as well as in the “third sector”, as corporate and association legal experts and specialist legal advisors. Graduates who have sufficient credits in the relevant subject areas may take the admission tests for secondary school teaching training courses, as required by current legislation.

Overview

The training programme aims to develop legal skills that will enable students to pursue both traditional legal careers (notary, solicitor, magistrate) and new professions in the legal field, thus facilitating their entry into the modern world of work (legal experts in public bodies, legal experts in companies, positions of high responsibility in EU and international institutions, etc.).

The course is structured around a single path, with each year featuring subjects characterising the approach described above: in the fifth year, students take courses dedicated to the impact of new technologies on the legal world. The course is delivered in a blended format (with face-to-face and online lessons) and is structured around 30 courses, two skills (linguistics and legal IT) and a final exam.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates in Law acquire basic and advanced knowledge for understanding different legal systems (national, European and international), analysed individually and comparatively. The training acquired is multidisciplinary in nature: it embraces historical and philosophical concepts, positive law of both a private and public nature, as well as concepts of economics and information technology, in addition to knowledge of at least one foreign language, in order to be able to operate in all contexts where interdisciplinary skills of analysis, evaluation and decision-making in the legal field are required.

Graduates in Law are therefore able to analyse and implement the most appropriate legal solutions for the professional context in question, both in court (in litigation) and out of court. They have the ability to manage and monitor the compliance of the organisation and activities of the structures in which they operate with the rules laid down by the relevant legislation and to coordinate the application of the latter in all organisational and decision-making processes of the organisation in which they operate, in new areas of work related to the development of digitalisation and in public administration.

– argue logically, rigorously and effectively, both orally and in writing, with specialists and non-specialists;

– use the main IT tools in specific areas of expertise;

– independently update and enrich their knowledge and skills.

Admission requirement

To be admitted to the course, applicants must hold a secondary school diploma or other qualification obtained abroad, recognised as suitable under current legislation. In any case, admission to the course requires basic knowledge of:

– historical culture;

– institutional culture;

– constitutional principles.

To verify the possession of these requirements, a self-assessment test is proposed before the registration deadline. In case of failure to pass the test, the students may still attend the course and will be assigned a tutor to support them in their studies during the first semester.

Internships and Placements

Assistance with external training periods (internships and work placements) is one of the broader institutional tasks of the University Placement Office, whose mission is to build bridges between the University and the world of work and offer students and graduates better opportunities for professional integration. To this end, the Placement Office provides a wide range of services aimed at both students and graduates, as well as the companies and public or private bodies that make up its network, carrying out administrative, organisational and promotional activities. Within this framework, the Placement Office provides students and graduates with a range of information and guidance services to optimise the results of their extra-curricular training experience.
