LEARNING OUTCOMES

This  programme is designed to provide advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas:

  • biomedical, concerning the physiological, biological, biochemical and molecular aspects of physical activity, together with those relating to the pathogenesis, prevention and diagnosis of diseases related to a sedentary lifestyle in different age groups;
  • psycho-social, including the study of the psycho-social and pedagogical determinants of physical activity, neuroscience applied to movement and the didactical aspects of training;
  • sports and training, relating to training methods and teaching, with specific insights into adapted physical activity.

Both theoretical teaching and technical-practical activities are constantly updated in line with progress in the relevant fields of study. Learning is facilitated through practical simulations of physical activity programmes in different contexts. The achievement of the expected results is assessed through written tests or self-assessment carried out during the course and/or oral tests at the end of the course. At the end of the course, students are required to write a thesis, which may be experimental, based on bibliographic research using databases and digital search engines related to the field of interest.

Graduates will have acquired adequate knowledge to design, conduct and evaluate physical activity programmes tailored to different categories of individuals, independently or in collaboration with other professionals.

The training programme includes simulations and exercises aimed at enabling students to acquire autonomy in the development and implementation of physical activity programmes in different contexts. Students also carry out internships in order to develop their ability to interact with the world of work and with different professionals.
