The program originates from a similar course that was launched, at the time of the birth of this university, a century ago. It aims to train qualified professionals in the fields of Maritime and Air Navigation Sciences, Meteorology and Oceanography.
Students can find employment according to the program they choose: in land offices of shipping companies and customs terminals; in service companies for air traffic management and at civil airports; in public and private institutions for the management of data, instruments and meteorological-oceanographic models.
The Nautical, Aeronautical and Meteo-Oceanographic Sciences curriculum is the only one of its kind in Italy and the direct heir of a similar program that started together with the University a century ago. The program trains qualified professionals who can operate in the diverse sectors of Maritime and Air Navigation Sciences, Meteorology and Oceanography.
The curriculum provides a background in basic and characterizing overlapping areas. Furthermore students may opt for one of the three curricula provided for that include Navigation and Surveying, Air Traffic Management and Control and Meteorology and Oceanography.
Course Duration: 3 years
Number of Exams: 20
Credits: 180
Admission: Free

Graduates will gain basic understanding of the dynamics that regulate the behaviour of ships and aircrafts and of the meteo-oceanographic environment. This is achieved through classroom lectures and thanks to students’ participation during courses, laboratory activities, final exams and internships in institutions or companies.
The expected learning outcomes will be achieved through various types of teaching activities, including lectures, practical exercises, laboratory experience and seminars, and will be assessed through ongoing tests, final written exams, oral interviews and laboratory/internship reports.
SNAMO graduates are able to assess the correct use of the equipment and software made available to them and to intervene independently to ensure their proper functioning. This is guaranteed by laboratory activities and tests both during and at the end of the courses. The courses cover applications to specific areas of the fields
chosen and related fields, with the aim of developing an independent ability to understand and model problems.
The objectives will be pursued through specific activities of a mainly practical or laboratory nature, carried out individually or in groups within the individual courses, which involve direct teacher/student interaction. These application and comprehension skills are assessed through tests, written or oral exams, and project work.
