The Degree is designed to prepare professionals with a solid scientific foundation and the practical expertise required to promote physical activity, sport, health, and social inclusion. The programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical training to develop graduates capable of designing, managing, and delivering physical activity and sport programmes in recreational, educational, and inclusive contexts. The Bachelor’s Degree in Human Movement Sciences offers students the opportunity to obtain a Double Degree in International Sport Sciences through a long-standing partnership with Ludong University (China).
Graduates in Human Movement Sciences are well prepared for careers in the fields of sport, physical activity, health promotion, and community services. They may work in sports clubs, fitness and wellness centres, non-profit organisations, educational settings, and public or private institutions that promote physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and psycho-social well-being through sport and exercise.
The programme provides students with the scientific knowledge and practical competencies required to work in the fields of physical activity, exercise, and sport. Particular emphasis is placed on sport-specific techniques and methodologies, exercise programming, sport management, and the promotion of active and healthy lifestyles.
Students also develop competencies in psychology, education, pedagogy, and the social sciences, enabling them to design educational and training initiatives that foster inclusion, reduce social disadvantage, and encourage participation in physical activity.
Since 2018, students have had the opportunity to obtain a Double Degree in International Sport Sciences through a partnership with Ludong University (China).

Graduates acquire the scientific knowledge and practical competencies required to work across a broad range of contexts involving individual and group physical activity and sport. They develop expertise in exercise science, sport-specific techniques, sport management, physical education, and the promotion of healthy and active lifestyles.
Throughout the programme, students undertake practical training in affiliated sports centres under the supervision of experienced professionals in sport and physical education, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge in authentic professional settings.
Upon completion of the programme, graduates will have acquired a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education in Human Movement Sciences together with the knowledge and practical competencies required to understand, manage, and promote physical activity and sport across diverse settings.
Graduates will develop the skills needed to plan, organise, and supervise both individual and group physical activity programmes based on sound scientific principles.
The programme provides a solid foundation in biology, biochemistry, medicine, and exercise science, complemented by studies in psychology, pedagogy, sociology, law, organisation, management, and economics. This multidisciplinary preparation enables graduates to interact effectively with individuals participating in physical activity and sport, motivate them appropriately, and place sporting practice within its broader social, organisational, economic, and legal context.
The programme also prepares professionals capable of working in educational, preventive, and community settings, including public and private organisations that promote social inclusion, rehabilitation, and well-being through physical activity and sport.
These competencies are developed through a combination of lectures, laboratory activities, practical training, workshops, and seminars addressing the many dimensions of sport and physical activity.
By the end of the programme, graduates will possess rigorous and up-to-date knowledge of Human Movement Sciences together with a sound understanding of the scientific principles, techniques, and related disciplinary areas underpinning physical activity and sport.
Graduates will also develop the ability to analyse, evaluate, and prescribe physical exercise according to the age, sex, functional characteristics, and physical condition of individuals, both in individual and group settings.
More specifically, graduates will understand the biological and biomechanical principles governing human movement and will be able to adapt exercise programmes according to the type of activity, duration, intensity, and individual needs. They will be proficient in the principal techniques of physical activity and sport, as well as in methods for assessing physical performance and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. They will also be able to design, organise, and implement basic programmes aimed at improving muscular strength, enhancing physical function, and supporting functional recovery.
Graduates will therefore be able to design and supervise scientifically based programmes of individual and group physical activity, using appropriate methods of functional assessment and monitoring to achieve specific objectives agreed with participants or athletes.
They will also be equipped to promote healthy and active lifestyles and ethical sporting practices, encouraging participation in sport while discouraging the use of performance-enhancing substances and other practices that may be harmful to health.
Finally, graduates will be prepared to work within multidisciplinary teams on projects that use recreational and community sport as a means of promoting social inclusion and enhancing quality of life.
Knowledge and understanding are developed through the programme’s integrated combination of theoretical instruction, laboratory work, and practical experience, including placements in external organisations. Achievement of the intended learning outcomes is assessed primarily through examinations and other forms of academic evaluation.
